You need a truck and you need one now, but with today’s market, trucks all seem to bring so much to the table that honestly it is hard to choose the best one for you. That’s where we come in! We took two top truck models and run them through their paces, right here, so you can decide! Starting things off strong is the 2020 Ram 1500, which already has a powerful reputation to uphold from years past. It certainly delivers in 2020, where feature sets abound and innovations delight – all without losing its core foundation of being a work truck, whether in Quad or Crew Cab. It offers a Night- or Black-Appearance Package, an impressive 12″ touchscreen, modern vert-split tailgate option, an EcoDiesel 3.0L V6 choice, and the Rambox storage system, among many other things. The 2020 Ford F-150 will not take that sitting down, however, and stands its ground via elements like its own brand-new appearance packages, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, powerful towing capacities, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a high-strength steel frame to boot. It also brings into view the off-roading focused Raptor model as well as helpful items like Stowable Loading Ramps and Daytime Running Lamps. Let’s see how this goes!

2020 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

There is an advanced TorqueFlite 8-speed auto transmission in the game here, as well as a discretionary eTorque hybrid system for the gas-breathing Ram 1500 truck formats. There is the perpetual and popular 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with eTorque that obtains 305-hp and 269 lb of torque! The Active-Level 4-Corner Air Suspension is an alternative to the already-sturdy coil-suspension found standard, an innovation that will lower the truck’s height by itself at expressway speeds and will self-levels as well.

A 10-speed auto transmission is fitted well to these engines typically. The standard engine is a 3.3-liter V6 that works with a 6-speed automatic transmission, garnering up to 290-horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. A 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine is inside the Limited and Raptor models, so don’t think that you can put that one just any model. There is also a 3.5L twin-turbo V6, a 5.0L V8, a turbocharged 3.0L diesel V6, and a 2.7L twin-turbo V6. With the more expensive “Max Trailering Package”, towing does get up there, albeit at a higher fuel cost, all the way to 13,200-pounds with the 3.5L Ecoboost engine.

Look for elements inside like a standard back-up camera, Remote Keyless Entry, an active front air dam, an electronic locking rear axle (standard on Rebel). Then there is the Trailer Tow Group, a leather dashboard on some models, a lockable glovebox, dual tow hooks, and a 60/40 vertical split tailgate for easier bed access. Also of note is the RamBox system, a storehouse on wheels is drainable, LED-lit, and locks – perfect for tools going to the job site and then for icy beverages on the weekends! That system is found within the truckbed walls and does not lose any width from the truckbox. Also notable is that when had with the split tailgate, the regular tailgate-style of opening & closing is not lost, and it supports the same amount on top: 2,000-pounds! Top things off in the refined cabin with items like Largest-in-Class 12-inch touchscreen with split-screen app-running abilities and a Wi-Fi Hotspot, and now it’s a mobile office!

2020 Ford F-150 Features & Design

Buyers can get an F-150 in triple cab fashions: Regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew, and know there are also 3 different bed-lengths, which gets a bit confusing for most. These trims bring in items like Daytime Running Lamps, a locking tailgate, elective skid plates, loading ramps that stow, the SYNC 3 system, and 4-wheel ABS. Also to be seen in the F-150 is driver-assist technologies like Ford Co-Pilot 360, Pro-Trailer Backup-Assist, as well as a high-strength aluminum-alloy body. The Raptor model has its own 4WD system, Hood Air Extractors, Fox shocks, and the FordPass Connect with a WiFi Hotspot. We’re not sure who needs to take a truck at highway speeds up sand dunes besides stunt-people, but it is technically possible in the more expensive Raptor. There is no split-tailgate option, but the Ford F-150 does provide for a Remote Tailgate Release alternative.


The Ram Brand is titled the “Best Truck Brand of 2020” by U.S. News & World Report, the Consumer Guide’s “Best Buy” 12th consecutive winner, and the Green Car Journal named the 2020 Ram 1500 its “Green Truck of the Year”, a few of the many awards this truck has achieved.
